My wife and I bought our first property in Ocean Ridge Plantation in 2001. Because we believed in the future of this community, we purchased an additional four properties since then. We built our dream home on one of these lots in 2007, so we've been around a while.
I have provided leadership for over 50 years in the aerospace industry with executive positions in roles such as Program Management, Engineering, Customer Service, Manufacturing and Quality. I am the founder and CEO of a successful consulting company which has helped numerous organizations improve performance in the critical areas mentioned above. Effective communication and building high performing teams and organizations are among my strengths. Please refer to my LinkedIn profile for details.
I hold a BS in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri and a MS in Management from Rensselear University. I believe that my education and diversified business background will serve ORMA well.
I served as the Chairman of the Facilities Committee from April 2021 to July 2021 when I resigned over repeated interference by the board of directors in the day to day operations of the committee.
I volunteered every day of the recent tornado clean up effort. I was successful in recruiting many members of the Ocean Ridge Mens Golf Association to volunteer to help with tornado clean up and led multiple teams cleaning up private property near the 904 gate, in Windsor Circle and along several holes on Lion's Paw golf course.
I have been very active in the Ocean Ridge Men's Golf Associatin including the following roles:
Rules Director
Wednesday League Coordination
Tournament Director
In my current position as Tournament Director for the Ocean Ridge Men's Golf Association, I worked closely with Ocean Ridge Golf to develop and implement a Covid-19 protocol which allowed the golf courses to stay open providing a much needed option for outdoor exercise for the residents of Ocean Ridge Plantation at a time when our amenities were closed. During this difficult time, I've built a solid working relationship with the management Ocean Ridge Golf.
I was recently elected to the position of President
I served on both the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters, a nonprofit providing mentoring for children at risk in the state of Connecticut. Board focus was primarily on the areas of fund raising and governance. I have also chaired corporate wide Community Way drives in large organizations.
I have studied the Ocean Ridge covenants, bylaws and rules and regulations as well as the local and state laws governing the operation of HOA boards and believe that I can bring much needed leadership to the Ocean Ridge Board of Directors to improve adherence to the our covenants and the laws of the state of North Carolina. I'm especially interested in improving board transparency in decision making, record keeping and adherence to the principles of Roberts Rules of Order. I also believe that the board needs to return to the role of oversight and leave day to day decision making to the committees and the management company.
